As an avid Bravo fan, goat cheese balls from SUR Restaurant are all the rage on Vanderpump Rules — so with all the #Scandoval drama happening right now, I just knew I needed to make my own for the finale (and all of the upcoming reunion episodes!).
These fried goat cheese balls made with fresh goat cheese, eggs, panko breadcrumbs, and spices. Drizzle with honey and enjoy!
Goat Cheese Ball Ingredients
These goat cheese balls are inspired by the ones on the SUR menu, but they aren’t exactly the same. I decided to add some spices to both the egg and panko, and I drizzle mine with honey at the end.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Fresh goat cheese: I use the regular kind, but some people use flavored goat cheese and it sounds delicious.
Panko breadcrumbs: With paprika, salt, and pepper.
Eggs: With salt and pepper.
Honey: To drizzle at the end.
How to Make Goat Cheese Balls
Here’s how to make this appetizier:
Step 1: Roll out the balls.
Cut the 4 oz log into 8 parts and roll each one into a small ball.
Step 2: Bread the cheese balls.
Add salt and pepper to the eggs and salt, pepper, and paprika to the panko.
Add the balls into the egg mixture and make sure they’re completely coated.
Then roll each ball into the panko mixture.
Now, re-did each ball into the egg wash and then back into the panko. This will help give them a crispy exterior (and help make sure they don’t leak in the oil).
Step 3: Freeze the balls.
Now chill the goat cheese balls in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. This helps ensure they don’t melt in the oil.
Step 4: Fry the goat cheese balls.
Heat about 1.5 inches of vegetable oil in a skillet to ~350 degrees C. You don’t want your oil too hot or you risk burning the breading.
Drop ~4 balls into the oil. These cook quickly, so just turn them with a fork until they’re golden. This will only take about 2-3 minutes.
Step 5: Drizzle with honey.
Now drizzle with honey and enjoy!
Goat Cheese Balls
Ingredients
- 4 oz fresh goat cheese cut into 8 pieces and rolled into small balls
- 2 eggs whisked with a pinch of salt and pepper
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs with salt, pepper, and paprika
- honey for drizzling
Instructions
- Dredge each goat cheese balls in the egg and then the panko, then re-dredge again to double layer it.
- Add parchment paper to a plate and add the cheese balls. Freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Add vegetable oil to a cast iron skillet until it reaches ~1.5 inches. Bring to about 350 degrees F and drop 4 balls in the oil at a time. Turn them until they are beautifully golden. This will only take about 2-3 minutes. Remove to a papertowel-lined plate. Then drizzle with honey and serve warm.

Are they good reheated in an air fryer? I want to serve them warm for a party but don’t want to be cooking while trying to entertain

This was a simple mango sauce (I just whizzed up some mango with olive oil, salt, and pepper), but honestly I like them better with hot honey drizzled on top!
