Equipment

  • 1 8x8 square pan
  • parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, halved and cored
  • ½ stick unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ¼ cup AP flour
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper. Add the halved and cored apples to the pan (you can slice off a tiny portion of the back if they're rolling around too much)
  • Mix together everything for the topping, and use your hands to stuff them into the apples, making sure to get plenty on top.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 20 minutes, or until the apple has softened and the top has browned.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, drizzled with caramel and topped with cinnamon.
