How to Make Easy Peppermint Bark
Here’s how to make this recipe:
Step 1: Prep your ingredients
AKA just add your candy canes to a zip lock bag and crush them using a meat mallet, rolling pin, or whatever you have on hand. Set aside.
Also, get a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and set aside.
Step 2: Make your first layer.
You’ll start by adding the entire bag of white chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl. Melt for 20 second increments, stirring in between, until fully melted.
Then, add ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract and stir.
Now pour the melted white chocolate onto the parchment paper-lined baking sheet and smooth it out until it’s spread across most of it, like this:
Let it set in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes.
Step 3: Make the second layer.
Now melt the dark chocolate and add ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract just like the first step.
Then pour directly onto the set chocolate and spread out.
Once it’s spread out, sprinkle the crushed candy canes all over it. Let set in the refrigerator for about an hour.
Step 4: Break the peppermint bark.
Now use your hands to break the peppermint bark into pieces. Ta-da!
Easy Peppermint Bark Recipe
Ingredients
- 11-12 oz white chocolate chips
- 11-12 oz dark chocolate chips
- 6 regular sized candy canes crushed
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract divided
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Add the white chocolate to a microwave-safe bowl and melt in 20 second increments, stirring in between each. Once melted, add ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract and stir.
- Pour the white chocolate onto the baking sheet and spread into a thin layer. Let set in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
- Melt the dark chocolate in the same way at the white chocolate, also adding ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract.
- Pour the dark chocolate on top of the white chocolate and spread in a thin layer over it. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top.
- Let set for about an hour, and then break apart into small pieces.
